Bleach Down Drains?

We run into clients who state they were told it was a good idea to pour bleach down drains, disposals etc.

Bleach is not a surfactant, it does not dissolve biologicals. Between paper, hair, soaps, hair conditioners and food grease, bleach does not dissolve any of those. It does kill bacterial on contact though. While the bacteria may colonize the biologicals in your drains, they are insufficient  to cause a stoppage.

Imagine if a dog went poo on your living room floor. Would you spray bleach on it and wait? Bleach in drains is no different.

Just like a municipal sewage treatment facility uses aerobic and anaerobic bacterias to digest organic matters in sewage as part of the treatment process before discharge into the ocean, bacteria in your is beneficial. The LAST thing you should do is kill them all. Bleach and any soaps do that. Even shampoos that contain antibacterial agents like quaternium 25, antibacterial hand soaps, etc. are a  bad idea for your drains. Corporations use psychological marketing to manipulate consumers to think that you are bad mother if you do not buy their corporate disinfection products. For all but the immunocompromised, our immune system works better.

There are extremely cost effective professional grade drain products we carry that work well in removing over time organic buildups in your drains and keep them free of such when used 3-4 times a month. They contain 12 different strains of non-pathogenic bacteria and two enzymes to potentiate the bacterias. They are semi-dormant in a base of wheat bran, but once mixed with lukewarm water they start to multiple like crazy and go on an organics feeding frenzy in your drains- as long as you do not kill them with anti-bacterial agents.

Perfect for restaurants and homes, it takes 5 minutes to spoon the kid and pet safe product into a gallon of lukewarm water, shake and distribute it down every drain except your toilets just before you retire for the night so it stays in your drains as long as possible.
